Organic Pet Food
Is the Kibble Your Pet Eats Not Only Making its Life Miserable, But Sending it to an Early Grave?
Raw organic pet food may stem the epidemic of diabetes, food allergies, tumors, liver problems and other chronic diseases that are shortening our pets' lives and making them miserable.
Until about 50 years ago, most pets ate what their masters ate. Then corporations discovered they could make convenient little pellets out of waste and by products and convinced people that these pellets were actually better than real food.
It was also about that same time we saw the beginning of giant agri-business and the introduction of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, fast food and TV dinners.
Humans' health declined, and so did their pets' health. The number one cause of pet's death 50 years ago was old age. The number two cause of death was accidents.
Today pets are getting cancer, food allergies, skin problems, diabetes, obesity, digestive disorders and a myriad of other health problems -- just like their owners.
You already know about the benefits of eating organic food and the benefits of a raw food diet for yourself (if you don't, then please click Benefits Page and Why Organics?). Do you think it would be any different for your pet?
Changing Its Diet
Will Revolutionize Your Pet's Life
But Go Slowly
If you decide to feed your pet organic pet food, there are good brands out there. Research them before you buy.
If you decide on a raw food diet for your pet, there are a few things to consider:
- Carnivores in the wild eat the stomach contents of the prey so they do eat grains and vegetables. And they do not usually spend the day lying on the sofa waiting for their owners to come home. So your pet needs protein and fat in its diet, but not a huge amount. They need a balance of vegetables and grains in their diet too.
- Any change in the diet of a pet needs to be done very slowly. If you ate nothing but pellets your whole life and suddenly ate a 5 course dinner, you would get sick, maybe vomit and have diarrhea.
- Dogs have very acidic saliva and short intestines compared to humans. So they have a better ability to handle raw meat because their saliva kills bacteria and bacteria doesn't have time to incubate in their short intestines. If you feed them meat, it is more nutritious raw rather than cooked.
- Every animal is unique, so whatever change you want to make in the diet of each of your animals, go very slowly, watch them carefully. Even different breeds of dogs have tolerances for different foods. Try one new type of food at a time and notice their reaction to it.
- Acidic foods like citrus, onions and tomatoes are best in very small quantities, or none at all. Garlic can be harmful, but only in extremely large quantities. Your dog or cat can gnaw a raw carrot, but it would be hard to eat some grains in their natural state, so grinding them would be a good idea.
Variety is the spice of life, and eating is a very important activity for your pet. Give them organic pet food or lots of high quality, raw food and help them live a long, healthy and happy life.
